    Club Lunch Meeting Earth Day & Forest Restoration Foundation  23/04/2025 (ดู:819)

    Today is the 55th annual Earth Day recognizing worldwide support for environmental protection and first held on 22 April 1970. Rotary International’s theme for April is “Environment” and Environmental Preservation is one of Rotary’s Seven Areas of Focus.

    Our meeting’s special guest speaker Mr. Suwat Singhapant, a founding member of the Forest Restoration Foundation, gave an overview of the mission and reforestation projects completed since the organization’s inception in 2019. Mr. Suwat has held several governmental leadership positions such as the Director General of the National Parks and Wildlife Department, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Environmental Promotion,

    Royal Forestry Department, Ministry of Agriculture, National Reform Council as well as a Drafting Committee Member of Thailand’s 20-Year National Strategy for Sustainable Development (2018-2037).

    Asst. Prof. Dr. Pawat Seritrakul of Silpakorn University presented the details of their upcoming tree-planting project on the campus’s expansive farmland with about 100 students and faculty members from 10 countries in Asia. Other special guests in attendance included members of the Royal Forestry Department, Kaeng Krachan National Park and the Department of Highways. Everyone enjoyed the lunch buffet and Rotarian Bo won the bottle of wine for the day.

    “The Forest Restoration Foundation was founded in 2019 by a group of concerned environmentalists as a nationwide network of professionals, educators, development workers, community leaders and youth groups, united in their commitments to conserve, restore and enrich Thailand’s natural resources, biodiversity and ecosystems to ensure sustainable development for mankind and future generations.”
